In 1978 Jane partnered with Cora Hysinger to form Cora & Jane. Soon thereafter they were recognized as Jane’s inspiration derives from Greco-Roman, Medieval and the Arts and Crafts periods. Her clothes create a romantic vision and wrap the wearer in sculptured swatches of luxurious fabrics. Jane is equally inspired by a wide array of materials ranging from diaphanous silk chiffon to bold silk satin. Her color palette borrows from nature and the heavens. During these years Jane honed her craft , adding to her understanding of what is important to her customers. Slowly yesterday’s ”evening black” evolved into today’s “wedding white” as Jane built the company which now retails her exclusive designs. Jane’s designs have been featured in film, theater, television and the performing arts. The wedding designs on film can be seen in Sandra Bullock’s Force of Nature, Kate& Leopold starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman, The Pallbearer starring David Schwimmer and Gwyneth Paltrow, and the feature actor, director John Turturro. Romance & Cigarettes starring Susan Sarandon and Mandy Moore.

The families of High Society and public leaders have been entranced by Jane’s couture for the ability the clothing has to make a subtle yet lasting impression. The immaculate tailoring and attention to detail have attracted the daughters of Roosevelt and Freud, Kennedy and Moyrihan and other design influencers such as the Russian and British aristocracy. Designing the perfect dress is still Jane’s greatest pleasure. When not designing she splits her time between NYC and her house and garden in the country. Being close to nature and gardening is a big part of her life. After having married several times and raising two children, she now lives with the perfect companions, her two macaws, Thor and Oz. |
